Broken Roots: the stories in an unfinished poem
Here is a cycle of 157 poems, meant to be one long poem. Its rhythm and texture are that of movements in time and place, in the languid winter or summer of a hill town. Yet the poems go beyond their immediacy into places and situations such as trouble-torn Kashmir or even the killing of a journalist. These poems are suffused with nostalgia, desperation and a growing disenchantment with social and political happenings.
